Jazz Welcomes New On-Air Host

Bryan Houstonby Bryan Houston, On-Air Host

Hi, my name is Bryan Houston. I'm part of KJZZ's on-air jazz team hosting the Late Night Jazz program on Monday nights. I also man the main studio on the weekends, serving as the master of ceremonies on Saturday night.

I came to Arizona from Oregon where I was born and raised nearly a decade ago. My background is in print journalism and I have worked as a reporter and copy editor. My interest in jazz came from my parents who are originally from Louisiana.

I started at KJZZ as a member drive volunteer and where I met Blaise Lantana who later brought me on as an assistant in the jazz library and a digital editor. I still do these jobs along with being an on-air host. While these jobs keep me busy I enjoy the opportunity, plus I get to listen to great music! My favorite jazz involves guitars (especially electric), the Hammond B3 and the vibraphone. I count the music of Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco and Milt Jackson among my favorites.

I look forward to bringing jazz fans a lot more of their favorite music here at KJZZ!
